Firefighters extinguished five fires recorded in the Chornobyl zone

Four or five fires were recorded in the Chornobyl zone a few days ago. The firefighters managed to extinguish them quickly enough.

Acting Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ruslan Strilets, announced that during the telethon.

"Regarding the ecological condition of the Chornobyl zone, I can emphasize that we recorded fires a few days ago. There were 4 or 5 sources of combustion. It is great that we managed to localize these fires quickly," Ukrinform quoted the head of the Ministry of Environment.

According to Strilets, it is now possible to locate fires in the exclusion zone and prevent the spread of fires.

The official reminded that due to the seizure of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant by Russian troops, Ukraine lost access to the monitoring systems of the radiation situation in the Chornobyl zone. He stressed that currently, there is access to one monitoring post, which did not record exceeding the permissible radiation level.

Russian troops captured Chornobyl on the first day of the war - on 24 February.

On Sunday, 20 March, a partial rotation of Chornobyl nuclear personnel and the evacuation of people on the station's territory temporarily seized by Russian troops was carried out.
