The invaders want to convince the IAEA of the "normality" of nuclear terrorism and hide the real state of affairs with radiation leaks and environmental pollution.
Previously the IAEA reported fires in the Chernobyl zone and increased concentrations of cesium.
Ruslan Strelets, the Acting Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, said over the past two weeks there were more than 30 fires in the Chernobyl zone, and another five – in the past week.
As of the morning of March 24, most fires in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone were localized. Cesium levels are not a health hazard.
The Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the exclusion zone have been under russian military control since the first days of the invasion. Last week, due to power lines damage there was no power supply to spent fuel storage facilities, but the invaders allowed Ukrainian repair crews to restore power lines.
