Russian units involved in Bucha massacre likely to be sent to Kharkiv area

64th Motor-Rifle brigade is awaiting on “special assignments”

Russian units involved in Bucha massacre likely to be sent to Kharkiv area

According to the Chief Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the 64th motor-rifle brigade of the 35th RF Combined Arms army, whose servicemen committed mass murders and tortured civilians in Bucha, will return to the Ukrainian territory.

The Russian command will not rotate personnel in this division, instead putting them back on the front lines.

As of April 4th, the brigade had been withdrawn from Ukraine to Belarus and was dislocated near the city of Mozyr. By April 6, the personnel will be transported by rail to Belgorod, Russia.

They intend to return them to one of the "hottest" locations (presumably, the Kharkiv direction) after only two days of rest. Typically, Russian troops leaving a combat zone receive much more time for recovery and rest.

"Such a schedule indicates that "special assignments" are awaiting the 64th brigade. The first of them is the intimidation of civilians in Ukrainian settlements. Those who committed the crimes of henocide in Bucha might repeat them in other cities ", - the statement says.

Another goal of the rapid return of the 64th brigade to the territory of Ukraine is the brisk "disposal" of unnecessary witnesses. Such redeployment to the part of the front where they don’t have a chance to survive will make it impossible to testify in future trials.

"Understanding the resonance of the events in Bucha and personal responsibility for committed crimes, the personnel of the brigade massively protest the return to Ukraine. Nonetheless, the Russian command ignores such protests and threatens those who refuse to fight with a tribunal. Dismissal reports are not accepted for consideration" - added Ukrainian Intelligence.

Currently, Ukrainian and international investigators are documenting numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Russian army.

Upon Bucha’s release, city mayor Anatolii Fedoruk reported about hundreds of murdered citizens. According to him, 280 people were buried in a mass grave. He also said that the bodies of murdered people, some of whom are 14 y.o., are lying on the streets of the city. " All these people were shot and killed in the back of the head" - Anatolii Fedoruk said.

On Sunday, March 3rd, 410 bodies of murdered civilians were removed from the Kyiv region, recently liberated from Russian troops.

Richard Moore, Chief of British Intelligence MI6, stated that the executions of Ukrainians in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine were not accidental - they were planned by the leader of the Russian occupiers, Vladimir Putin.

Following the publication of evidence of war crimes committed by Russian troops in Bucha, Germany proposed establishing a tribunal to punish the perpetrators, similar to the one that existed in Yugoslavia.

On April 4th, Ukrainian intelligence released the list of occupiers responsible for the atrocities in Bucha.

Andrii Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, pointed out that Bucha masacre should not be compared to Srebrenica because now a nuclear state attacked a non-nuclear state: this is a completely different situation, a completely different scale of disaster and atrocities.
