After the meeting with president vladimir putin in russia, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer defined this conversation as "very direct, open and tough".
The Suddeutsche Zeitung writes according to the Chancellor's statements:
Nehammer's most weighty message to putin was the immediate war ending need, where both sides are losing.
Nehammer also mentioned Bucha and other Ukrainian settlements’ war crimes. He stressed a criminal responsibility for those who caused them.
putin has not commented on the meeting with the chancellor yet. Nehammer became the first European leader who arrived in Moscow since russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Last week, Nehammer met with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. During this visit the Chancellor also visited Bucha. Together with the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleksandr Pavliuk and the Humanitarian Department Head Oleksiy Kuleba, they visited a masse’s temporary burial of local residents, killed by the occupiers.
After visiting Ukraine, Nehammer announced his intention to fly to putin for a war ending discussion.
