Commander of 36th separate marine brigade Serhiy Volyna appeals to President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and federal chancellor Olaf Scholz to help organize evacuation from Mariupol. Volyna’s statement was published in German news outlet Bild.

“Once the world stopped evil. You remember that better than anyone else. Now the evil is back. And you have a chance to be on the right side of history and stop facism in its initial stage before it burns everything around,” said Volyna.

He said that he is recording appeal from a city under siege, where there’s no water, no food, no medicines, no electricity and no heating.

“More than 100 thousand people are starving. In basements my wounded soldiers are rotting from their wounds. Artillery, planes and even the navy are shelling us non-stop. Mariupol still can be saved! The world has to finally say “never again” and help us,” stressed Volyna.

Volyna appeals to Germany to act as Mariupol evacuation guarantor. He stated that German authorities can save more than 100 thousand civilians and a thousand Ukrainian military from evil that “can destroy the planet”.

Azov Regiment Deputy Commander Captain Sviatoslav Palamar recorded a video appeal regarding evacuation of civilians and military from Mariupol. He stressed that civilians who are hiding from russian shelling in Azovstal iron & steel works do not have a chance to leave basements. They are afraid, since shelling does not stop, regardless of russian military claiming a cease fire.

Palamar urged to hold on to security guarantees and stressed that civilians could leave Azovstal only with the support of the third party. He also said that he talked to Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak and Head of the Ukrainian delegation in peace talks with Russia David Arakhamia. They claimed readiness to come to Mariupol in order to hold talks with Russia’s representatives about the evacuation of the military garrison.
