The South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant has become a new target threatened by Russian shelling. Russia fired three missiles on April 16 that could have hit the station's nuclear reactor, the NNEGC “Enerhoatom” reported.

"On 16 April 2022, three cruise missiles, probably launched from the territory of Belarus in the direction of Mykolayiv, passed over the station site. One of them was recorded by South Ukraine NPP surveillance cameras," the company said.

As “Enerhoatom” emphasized, the level of South Ukraine NPP being hit was high.

"This is another act of nuclear terrorism by Russia, which threatens the world's security! We once again appeal to the IAEA to take all possible measures to stop Russia's nuclear terrorism, withdraw Russian troops from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, and establish demilitarized zones around Ukrainian nuclear power plants," the NNEGC said.

Earlier, the NNEGC reported that they are recording all the crimes occupiers have committed and continue to commit on Zaporizhzhia NPP and the town of Enerhodar.
