“russia's "modern" cruise missiles are equipped with electronics that were actually developed in the 1960s.

This was reported in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"X-101 missiles were manufactured from 1999 to 2013. russian media reported them as the pride of the latest high precision russian weapons. However, the use of X-101 missiles during the hostilities in Ukraine denied the claimed effectiveness. The electronic component base proved to be very far from modern", - MDI emphasized.

The intelligence says that Ukrainian experts analyzed the guidance and navigation systems of X-55 cruise missiles, as well as their modifications X-555 and X-101. The results showed that "modern" guidance units were actually developed in 1960-1970. They were also produced by the Voronezh Radio Parts Plant, the Minsk Integral Plant, and other enterprises of the USSR.

"Also, the "newest" missiles use the PGI-2M navigation system. Developed in 1977, it was widely installed on Su-27 or MiG-29 aircraft of the Soviet period," the Main Directorate of Intelligence said.

"Most of the X-101 missiles launched on the territory of Ukraine did not hit the targets," the MDI added.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the production of russian anti-aircraft missile systems has been put on hold as factory workers are sent on vacation or to the war in Ukraine.
