On 23 April 2022, at 10.00 p.m. the servicemen of the Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) unit of the Air Forces downed two russian cruise missiles that were fired by the russian vessel in the Black Sea and were flying in the direction of the Pivdennyy (South) Port, the press service of the Air Command South has reported.

During the last day, the units of the Air Defence of the Air Forces and the Ground Army hit 9 drones, three aircrafts, and five cruise missiles. On 23 April 2022, the russian occupiers fired at least six cruise missiles to Odesa, having killed eight people, including a three-months kid. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave tough feedback on this crime, calling the murder of kids a new national idea of russia.
