Zelenskyy, Johnson discuss new military aid to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson have discussed a new military aid to Ukraine. It includes heavy weapons.

The Head of the President's Office Andrii Yermak announced this on Saturday evening, 23 April 2022.

"More weapons. We thank our allies for the support," he wrote in Telegram.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Andrii Sybiha clarified that the leaders of Ukraine and Britain discussed macro financial and defense support for Ukraine, as well as sanctions against the russian federation and future security guarantees.

"Concerning the conversation with Johnson: a very substantive conversation. It was also about macro-financial support of our economy to minimize the negative effect of the war and, what is more important, to minimize its influence on our people. Of course, we have talked about defense support. We are talking about a new phase and quality of support by Ukraine's allies in military assistance. This is heavy machinery. But I think such things love silence. We are confident in our allies", Interfax Ukraine quotes Sybiha.

UPDATE: Zelenskyy told in Twitter about the telephone conversation himself. He mentioned that he thanked Johnson and the UK for the leadership, demonstrated in support for Ukraine.

“Spoke about the opposition to rf’s aggression, situation in Mariupol. Thanked for the defense support and macro-financial aid. Discussed security guarantees for Ukraine,” wrote Zelenskyy.

The United Kingdom is looking for the ways to transfer anti-ship Brimstone missiles to Ukraine, in particular - to install them on vehicles.
