General Staff: russia tries to increase pace of operation in eastern Ukraine

The russian army is trying to increase the pace of the operation in eastern Ukraine to encircle the grouping of the Joint Forces as well as to take full control of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

In the Donetsk and Tavriya directions, the main efforts of the enemy are focused on taking control of the settlements of Popasna, Rubizhne, and preparation for the attack on the city of Severodonetsk. Near the settlement of Maryinka and in other directions, the enemy has no success in the combat actions, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening brief.

In the Slobozhansky direction, the enemy continues to partially blockade the city of Kharkiv, carries out artillery shelling of the positions of our units and civil infrastructure near the settlements of Chuhuiv, Korobochkino, and Dovhenke. 

In the Pivdennyy Bug direction, the occupiers have had no active offensive actions, carried single artillery shelling of our units.

In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the enemy did not take active actions, and no signs of the formation of offensive groups were found.

It was earlier informed that the occupiers have shelled Zolote in Luhansk region, two people were killed.
