Republican Representative Victoria Spartz made a statement calling for the restarting of diplomatic work in Ukraine.

CNN reports that.

Spartz, the first Ukrainian-born member of Congress, emphasized that this step would send a "strong message to the Ukrainian people".

"A lot of countries are actually bringing [their diplomatic work] to Kyiv. The least we can do is to actually bring it maybe to Lviv. In any job – whether it’s a political job or diplomatic job – you do take some risks. You need to be smart. And if you’re not on the ground, it's very difficult to do your job," – she noted.

Spatrtz also called on President Joe Biden to visit Ukraine.

Victoria Spartz is currently visiting Ukraine to celebrate Orthodox Easter with her family. She said that she managed to attend the Easter service with her 88 years old grandmother. Spartz mentioned that her grandmother's parents had been executed during World War II and the current events in the country were "beyond belief" to her.

She has another grandmother who is 95 years old and also lives in Ukraine.

"The world must help Ukraine to win this war, bring peace back to Europe, and restore the international order. This is our responsibility. We must apply more pressure on Russia," – Spartz said.

The day before it became known that US State Secretary Anthony Blinken and the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin were going to visit Kyiv.

The United States and other countries had evacuated their diplomats, embassies, and consulates from Kyiv several days before russian invasion of Ukraine, moving them to Lviv. Afterward, those officials were moved to Poland.
