Canada will send Ukraine an undetermined amount of 155 mm M777 howitzers, as well as thousands of Carl Gustav anti-tank grenade launchers, hand grenades and rocket launchers.
This was stated by Canadian Minister of National Defence Anita Anand after the meeting of defence ministers at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany, reports The New York Times. Earlier the country had already transferred four M-777 howitzers and their ammunition to Ukraine.
The M-777 is a 155-millimeter field howitzer. Its range is 24-30 km. It has been produced since 2005 and is in service in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Ukraine.
The Swedish Carl Gustav anti-tank grenade launcher was developed back in 1946, but its modern modifications are in service with the armies of the US, Sweden, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and several dozen countries. A certain number of grenade launchers were received earlier by Ukraine as part of the assistance.
Today, Federal Minister of Defence of Germany Christine Lambrecht announced at a meeting at the Ramstein Air Base that Berlin is handing over “Gepard Flakpanzer” self-propelled anti-aircraft guns to Ukraine.
The German arms manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegmann said it has about 50 units ready for deployment and will supply them directly to Ukraine.
It should be noted that representatives from 40 countries - Albania, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Greece, Denmark, Estonia, Israel, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Qatar, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Germany, Norway, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, United States, Turkey, Hungary, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Montenegro, NATO, and the European Union - participated in the Ramstein meeting. The meeting was chaired by the Ministers of Defence of Germany, the United States and Ukraine.
