Ukrainian public figure, the Inyazor [Chief Elder] of the Erzya people Syres` Boliayen` raised the issue of ethnocide from the podium of the United Nations, website "Idel-Ural" informs.

Acting as a part of the Ukrainian delegation, Boliayen` publicly accused Moscow of deliberately causing decline of the national republics and enclaves of indigenous peoples in russia. Without any other alternatives, local young people are escaping poverty by signing contracts for service in the army and in the police.

"While we are discussing the mandate of the Forum, kremlin is sending representatives of my and other indigenous peoples of russia to destroy Ukraine. Russia doesn`t recognize the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. And it uses the rhetoric of minority protection only to seize foreign territories. Russia is no longer a federation, it is a prison of the nations, in which it has been keeping millions of Ukrainian citizens for nine years already. Russian occupants are killing Ukrainians, but they have big losses too. Percentage of representatives of the indigenous peoples of russia in the total number of dead interventionists is disproportionately high. It's much bigger than the percentage of these peoples in the structure of the population of russia. Both the official russian statistics and russian scientists, namely, Alexei Malashenko and Ahmet Yarlykapov, point this out," Boliayen` stated at the 21st session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

He emphasized that North Ossetia, Buryatia, Tuva, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Chukotka and Idel-Ural are the regions with the highest number of dead soldiers per thousand population.

Last year Boliayen` spoke at the quota of the Ukrainian delegation accusing Moscow on the 20th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.

He passed the Secretariat of the Permanent Forum a statement on the violation of rights of the indigenous peoples in russia. The document drew the UN`s attention to the politically motivated court prosecution of the Tatar Community Centre, community organization "Bashkort" and the prohibition of its activity. The trials against leaders of Tatar, Ingush, Kalmyk, Cherkess and Buryat national movements were also mentioned.
