The enemy inflicted five strikes on the Mykolaiv and Odesa areas. The threat of further use of cruise missiles from the Black Sea on military and civilian targets remains.
This was announced on May 9 at a briefing at the Ukrainian Media Center by Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk.
The enemy continues to destroy civilian infrastructure and residential areas with missile, air and artillery fire, particularly in Odesa, Zaporizhzhya, Donetsk, Luhansk, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions.
“The russian government is taking steps to integrate the temporarily occupied territories into russia. By Victory Day, the occupation administrations had reinforced counterintelligence measures and increased the number of checkpoints and patrols. A curfew has been imposed by May 10”, Motuzyanyk said.
Also, separate groups from the Crimea and some regions of the russian Federation arrived in the occupied territories of Zaporizhzhya and Kherson regions to create propaganda stories on russian television.
In the Kharkiv direction, enemy units are trying to prevent a further advance of our troops in the direction of the state border. In Izyum direction, the enemy concentrated on preparing to continue the offense in the direction of Izyum - Barvinkove and Izyum - Sloviansk. Trying to surround the Ukrainian troops, the enemy conducted reconnaissance.
In the Donetsk direction, russian troops continue offensive operations in the Lyman, Severodonetsk, Popasna, Avdiivka, and Kurakhiv areas. The enemy continues to force the river Siversky Donets. There are three pontoon crossings in the area of Bilogorivka, the enemy constantly uses artillery and operational and tactical aircraft.
In the Mariupol direction, the enemy continues to blockade our units near the Azovstal plant. With the support of fire, tanks, and artillery they conduct an assault. The resumption of bombings by long-range Tu-22M3 bombers is not ruled out.
South Bug and Tavriya directions - the russians are fighting to improve the tactical situation. The enemy is increasing fire systems, air defense, and improving engineering equipment.
In the Tavriya direction, russia is conducting demonstrations to bind Ukrainian troops and prevent them from being transferred to other operational zones.
Bessarabian direction: the situation in the Transnistrian region of Moldova remains tense. Local formations and units of the russian operational group continue to be in full combat readiness.
Volyn, Podil, and Siversky directions - there are no significant changes over the day. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces - up to seven battalions - continue to strengthen the border in Gomel and Brest regions. The threat of missiles and airstrikes from the territory of Belarus on Ukraine remains.
In the Black and Azov Seas, the enemy`s Black Sea Fleet ships continue to isolate combat areas, conduct reconnaissance, and provide fire support.
“As of now, there are already seven carriers of naval-based cruise missiles in the Black Sea. Their total volley can be up to 50 missiles”, Motuzyanyk added.
We are reminding, that the Operational Command “South” reported yesterday that russia had transferred at least six ships and two submarines equipped with more than 50 cruise missiles to the Black Sea.
