Around 30 Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk students have been killed since the start of the war against russia, the Luhansk Regional Military Administration head Serhiy Haidai reports.

It's mentioned that the University was forced to move to Poltava and renewed its educational process in March. Also, almost all the professors were evacuated, and computers and servers were rescued.

Currently, the institution is being managed from Poltava but the professors work remotely. After students with Master's degrees graduated in January, there are 7 623 students at the University.

"The University professors who work currently are 100% paid. But there is administrative and managing staff who is physically unable to perform their duties. Under the law, they are staying idle and have to receive no less than two-thirds of their salaries. But these people receive average salaries," – Haidai wrote.

The RMA added that all the University buildings except those located in Starobilsk were destroyed by russia.

Haidai has stated previously that the universities of Ukraine provide the higher education institutions from the Luhansk region with premises for education, scientific work, and housing.

According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet, the admission campaign in 2022 would be as liberalized as possible so that children stayed in Ukraine and continued their education here.
