US President Joe Biden has signed an act on assisting Ukraine in the war with Russia.
This fact became known from the broadcast when the US President signed the act on land-lease and the protection of democracy in Ukraine.
"We support Ukraine. These steps are costly, but hiding from aggression is even more expensive. The last time such a program was implemented was during World War II. Now Europe needs our help even more," - said Biden.
The law on land-lease for Ukraine was approved by the US Senate on 7 April 2022, and on 28 April 2022, the US Congress supported the implementation of a land lease act for Ukraine.
On 1 May 2022, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, discussed the critical issues of assistance to our state with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.
"Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022" will accelerate the transfer of critical military weapons and other vital materials to Ukraine without bureaucracy. It allows renting equipment.
The Land-Lease is a system approved in 1941; using it, the United States transferred critical ammunition, equipment, food, and petroleum products to its allies during the war. The military items were provided for free, and at the end of the war, if necessary, they were returned to the USA. If the item was destroyed, it was not paid for.
