On Wednesday, 18 May, the enemy used aircraft to strike at civil objects in the districts of the settlements of Toshkivka, Zolote, Avdiivka, Volodymyrivka, and Vodiane in the Luhansk region.
The russian army fired artillery and mortars at the settlements of Yanzhulivka and Progres, in the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening report.
"In the Novopavlovsk and Zaporizhzhia directions, russian occupiers did not carry out active hostilities. They carried out artillery and mortar shelling of infrastructure facilities and residential buildings in the areas of the settlements of Novoandriyivka, Kamyanske, Orikhiv, Olhivske, and Poltavka," – the General Staff reports.
In the South Buh direction, the enemy shelled the settlements of Lupareve, Posad-Pokrovske, Vysunsk, Osokorivka and Novovorontsovka. The enemy continued the measures of upgrading positions. In order to adjust the artillery fire, they used the "Orlan-10" UAV.
Also, the General Staff reported that in the temporarily occupied territories of the Luhansk region on 16-17 May there were spontaneous protests by the relatives of the men who were forcibly mobilized to the ranks of the russian occupation forces. Protests were documented in Luhansk and Rovenky. The main demand is to bring the mobilized ones home.
On 18 May, the Ukrainian army freed Dementiivka in the Kharkiv region, and the fighting for Ternova is underway.
In most directions of the offensive in the Eastern Operation Zone, the enemy wasn't successful. The General Staff reports that the russian army is suffering numerous losses and retreating.
