The bombing of the Azovstal plant in Mariupol could damage a technical facility that holds tens of thousands of tons of concentrated hydrogen sulfide solution. Leakage of this fluid will completely kill the flora and fauna of the Sea of Azov.

This was reported by the Mariupol City Council.

According to Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko, hazardous substances can then end up in the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

Boychenko demands the immediate admission of international experts and the UN to study the situation and prevent an environmental catastrophe.

Adviser to the mayor Petro Andryushchenko added to official information.

He said that the endless attacks on Azovstal, particularly in the area of Shlakova Mountain, most likely damaged the protective structures of the “chemical lake,” which consists of hydrogen sulfide mostly.

“The protective structure itself is designed to protect the sea from this green beauty in the sea. And now it is damaged. Most likely. What's next? Then this green substance with a very high concentration of hydrogen sulfide will get into the sea. What's next? It will spread not only in the waters of Mariupol but will even reach the Black Sea,” Andryushchenko explained.

The mayor's adviser is convinced that this will lead to the death of all flora and fauna of Azov.

“It is much more dangerous than sewage and shit in the sea. Because it is the death of Azov, which we knew before. The Dead Sea will wash the shores of the dead city. Russian world brought to Mariupol. Death and destruction,” Andryushchenko said.

Earlier, the Mariupol City Council said that the ruscists plan to demolish Azovstal. Because the Armed Forces will soon have the powers to deoccupy Mariupol. The russians are preventively destroying an important industrial complex for Ukraine.
