Because of the war, more than 6.2 m Ukrainians went abroad.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Mary Hakopyan during the international conference "Solidarity of the EU with Ukraine: protection of people fleeing the war."
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 5 million (5,358,079 people) moved to EU countries.
"The largest number of people (3,357,984) have moved to Poland, and at least half of them remain there. More than 1.2 million Ukrainian citizens have already registered for temporary protection in the EU," Hakopyan said.
Earlier the UN reported that because of war more than 14 million Ukrainians left the homes, among them 8 million became internally displaced persons.
According to a survey conducted by the Razumkov Center from April 11 to May 6, a quarter of IDPs returning to Ukraine want to move to another region.
