Ruslan Stefanchuk, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met in Berlin with Olaf Scholz, the Chancellor of Germany.
Spiegel informed about this.
It is noted that the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada urged to increase military support for Ukraine and to supply modern weapons in order Ukraine to continue the war against Russia.
"Of course, we need modern weapons first of all. We can also battle with old weapons from old stocks, but new weapons are more effective. So we expect both Marder (armored personnel vehicles) and Leopard (tanks)." Stefanchuk said.
He welcomed the supply of heavy weapons, but pointed out that the weapons should be delivered as soon as possible. According to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, about 100 people die every day in Ukraine and hundreds more are injured.
Yesterday Stefanchuk met with Bärbel Bas, the Head of the German Bundestag. She assured that decisions on arms supplies to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia will be made quickly.
To remind, on June 1, Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, promised to supply Ukraine with modern anti-aircraft warfare equipment. In his speech before the Bundestag on Wednesday, he said that Germany was going to send the IRIS-T system to Ukraine.
