Russia began the deportation of Ukrainians on 18 February - Denisova

Russia began the forced deportation of Ukrainians from the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions before the full-scale invasion began. Former ombudswoman Lyudmyla Denisova said this in an interview with LB.ua.

“I have supporting documents - the directive of the Ministry of Emergencies of the russian Federation on federal districts in terms of regions and cities. For example, regarding the Ulyanovsk region and the city of Ulyanovsk - how many people are they ready to receive as of 6 am on February 21. That is, it is a notice of the planned date (of deportation - ed.) and 100% readiness for it. According to these data, on 21 February these places were already filled in the Kursk and Voronezh regions. People have already been transported to Moscow, Volgograd and Penza regions,” Denisova said.

According to her, the first deportations were carried out on 18 February.

I have, for example, a document “Report on the state of the operational situation in russia and abroad at 6 am on 5 May, which clearly states that since 18 February, the Ministry of Emergencies of russia organized work to receive and provide assistance to citizens evacuated from the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics of Ukraine, as well as the formation and delivery of humanitarian aid. “That is, the first deportations were on 18 February, that is confirmed by documents,” said the former Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights.

In total, according to Denisova, more than 1.5 million people were deported to russia, more than 300,000 of them children.

“In total, more than 1.5 million people have been deported to the russian Federation. About 300,000 of them are children. These are the official statistics of the russian Federation. About a million people - UNHCR statistics,” - summed up Denisova.

On 31 May the Verkhovna Rada voted for the expression of distrust of the ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova which means her dismissal.
