Negotiations with Russia may resume after strengthening Ukraine's position with weapons – Arahamiya

At the moment, he sees no reason to restore them.

Negotiations with russia will continue after Ukraine's position is strengthened by modern weapons provided by Western partners.

David Arahamiya, the head of the "Servant of the People" faction and the head of the negotiating delegation, announced this on a TV marathon, CNN reports.

"At the moment, I see no reason to initiate further negotiations. Not before there will be real changes at the front," he said.

He described the current situation as "a step forward - two steps back."

"Negotiations must continue when our negotiating position is strengthened. And it can be strengthened as soon as the armaments promised to us by international partners will eventually arrive in the required quantities," he said.

The President of Ukraine stressed that he was ready to hold direct negotiations with Putin. He added that if the conversation fails, it could be the beginning of World War III. The condition to holding negotiations with Putin is that they must take place without intermediaries, and the only issue on the agenda will be the cessation of the war.

Negotiations between the delegations of Ukraine and the occupying forces have stopped. The last face-to-face meeting was on 29 March in Istanbul. On 17 May, a member of the negotiating team, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, confirmed the suspension of negotiations.

The negotiations are over because russia's military-political leadership is still thinking stereotypical and ignores the changes that have taken place in Ukraine since the beginning of the war.

In an interview with LB, Podoliak clarified that political and diplomatic negotiations with the russians have stopped. Still, humanitarian ones continue - on the exchange of prisoners, evacuation attempts, and green corridors.
