Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk believes that there is only one topic for the dialogue with russian President vladimir putin: it is about when he ends the bloody war and pays reparations.
The victory of Ukraine, in his opinion, has two stages. The first stage is a big victory when Ukraine regains all its territories, including Crimea and the Donbas. In addition, the russian federation must pay reparations, and the International Criminal Court must convict the guilty russians. Stefanchuk said the above in his interview with the German edition Die Welt.
"But the way to this victory is not easy. It consists of many other victories. The first stage of victory, as we see it, is the return of Ukrainian territories as of February 24," the head of the parliament said.
There is only one way to achieve this and it is the liberation of our territories. For it, the Ukrainians need help of all the countries that support them, and, first of all, Germany, which has already announced important decisions on the supply of weapons.
Stefanchuk added that the schedule of German weapons deliveries had been agreed with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to the journalists, the first 15 "Gepard" Cheetah tanks will arrive no earlier than the end of July, and another 15 – at the end of August. The chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted that the price of each day of delay is high: about 100 Ukrainian soldiers are killed every day, and 500 are injured.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to supply Ukraine with the most modern German air defense systems. In his speech addressed to the Bundestag on Wednesday, he said that Germany is going to deliver IRIS-T Systems to the Ukrainians.
