The Mi-17 helicopters are being loaded at the Air Force base in the US to be transferred to Ukraine.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

"Mi-17s for Ukraine are already being loaded on the basis of the US Air Force. Beautiful birds," Yermak wrote.

Note that the Mi-17 is a multi-purpose military transport helicopters designed for landing, combat and special missions.

This is one of the most massive helicopters in the history of aviation.

The helicopter is designed for: transportation of personnel; transportation of cargo, weapons and military equipment both inside the cargo cabin and on the external suspension; tactical landing; landings of sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRG); destruction of lightly armored vehicles, destruction of targets and manpower of the enemy (with missiles, small arms); evacuation and transportation of the wounded.

The helicopter is suitable for operation around the clock in different climatic conditions. Thanks to the largest cargo cab in its class, it has significant transport capabilities.

Among the main characteristics of the Mi-17 are the following:

• the helicopter develops a maximum speed of 250 km / h;

• maximum take-off weight is 13 thousand kg;

• practical range - 950 km;

• combat range - 495 km;

• maximum payload - 4 thousand kg;

• cargo cabin volume - 23 cubic meters. m

• crew - 2-3 people;

• payload - more than 30 soldiers, or 12 burdens with escort, or 4 thousand kg of cargo in the cabin, or at least 3 thousand kg on the external suspension.

Helicopters can be equipped with machine guns, grenade launchers, etc.

It will be recalled that the M109A3 self-propelled howitzers provided by Norway are already at the forefront and hit targets with high accuracy and destroy the enemy.

The United States also confirmed that modern HIMARS MLRSs are being sent to Ukraine.
