At the initiative of the First Lady Olena Zelenska, an action in honour of children who died as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation was held on the territory of the National Sanctuary Complex "Sophia of Kyiv".

This is stated on the website of the President of Ukraine.

Relatives of the victims and representatives of the diplomatic corps of different states were invited to the event.

A moment of silence was observed in honour of the children killed by russia, and hung bells on the trees, symbolising the voices of the dead little Ukrainians.

"Today we have people who have lost the most. These are the parents. I lack words to say how I sympathise. All words can be banal and superfluous now. Let me just be with you, share this pain. The whole country knows your stories, and you are not alone. You need to know that you are important. You were the most important people to your children. So, take care of yourself for them. They would like that," said Olena Zelenska.

She called on foreign diplomats to do "everything possible to ensure that children do not die in Ukraine. I am convinced that the world can do it".

In Ukraine as a result of a full-scale invasion of russia proceeding from February 24, 465 children were wounded, 261 children were lost.

In 2021, the Parliament voted to establish the Day of Remembrance of Children who died due to the armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine every year on June 4.
