In an interview with NV, Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk said that Germany intends to deliver Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers to Ukraine around June 22.
The ambassador noted that, despite promises, Germany has not yet delivered a single unit of heavy weapons to Ukraine.
"As of today, on the 105th day of the Russian war against Ukraine, none, I repeat, none of the heavy equipment, that is artillery, howitzers, infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, not a single unit has been delivered to Ukraine," he said.
The ambassador noted, however, that at least two promises of heavy weapons supplies are expected to be fulfilled soon.
"Seven self-propelled howitzers will be handed over to us - we will receive these systems sometime on June 22," Melnyk said.
The Gepard self-propelled artillery units are expected to be delivered to the Armed Forces later.
"This is also old weapons - 30 units: 15 Gepard - by the end of July, another 15 - by the end of August. These are the only two promises being delivered of all announced by the German government to date," he added.
Note that the Panzerhaubitze 2000 - 155-mm self-propelled howitzer was developed by the German concern Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and adopted by the Bundeswehr in the fall of 1998. It has a barrel length of 52 caliber (8 m), an automatic loading system with ammunition and sleeps 228 modular charges plus a ground navigation system.
And Gepard is a German anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery installation on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank. Krauss-Maffei has manufactured it since the mid-1970s. The primary weapon of the anti-aircraft artillery installation Gepard is a pair of 35-mm guns, Oerlikon KDA L / 90. The guns are mounted on the outside of the installation tower.
The Polish AHS Crab are ready to carry out combat missions at the front. This is the fifth type of 155-mm artillery that has been involved in the defense of Ukraine.
Norway handed over 22 self-propelled artillery units M109 with equipment, spare parts, and artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
Also, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said France would provide Ukraine with an additional batch of self-propelled howitzers Caesar.
