The Interior Ministry's units will be on high alert on the eve of Independence Day (24 August) and during the celebrations. No offensive on Kyiv is expected, but the enemy has other "gifts" for Ukrainians, Deputy Interior Minister Yevhen Yenin told the TV marathon.

"We know very well that the Russian leader loves symbolism and therefore we are expecting special surprises for all residents of our state. It is no secret that no storming of the capital or offensive is expected on this day. At the same time, Russians have missiles, bombs and so on in their arsenal. That is why I urge citizens these days to heed our advice, to observe curfew requirements and react properly to air-raid alarms," Yenin said.

The Strategic Communications Directorate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces warned that there is a high threat of massive shelling of the entire territory of Ukraine on the eve and during the Independence Day celebrations. The Russian Federation is concentrating S-300 missiles on Ukraine's borders and occupied territories.
