As a result of the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the overpass has been damaged, windows in the building smashed, the nuclear energy company Energoatom has said.
As of 21 August, the Zaporizhzhya NPP operates at the risk of violating radiation and fire safety standards. Regular shelling of the Zaporizhzhya NPP by Russian troops using MLRS has posed a serious risk to the safe operation of the plant.
The previous day, shelling damaged one of the passageways by which personnel went from the special buildings to the power units.
"Ukrainian plant personnel continue to work and pay all efforts to ensure nuclear and radiation safety, as well as to eliminate the consequences of the accident. The Zaporizhzhya NPP is still occupied and controlled by Russian troops. Considering that the invaders' actions cannot be predicted, the physical safety of the plant is still under threat", the statement reads.
