Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and new UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly have had their first conversation.
"Spoke with James Cleverly. We see eye to eye on the main goal: Ukraine must win. We will work actively together to persuade others across the globe to support it, especially those who may still have doubts. The fact that our call was Foreign Secretary’s first speaks for itself," Kuleba tweeted in English.
On 6 September, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II formally confirmed Liz Truss as prime minister. The following day, Truss appointed key ministers to her government. In particular, James Cleverly became head of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for which he had worked for two years. He was also the secretary of state for education in Boris Johnson's government.
