Russian occupiers have rescheduled a sham referendum in Enerhodar from early September to November, mayor Dmytro Orlov has said.

He noted that this happened "probably because the enthusiasm of the collaborators, who have taken to serving the occupiers in committing this crime, has been nullified?".

"And the own price tag they put for treason against their country and their city is no longer worth living?" added Orlov.

Ukrainian intelligence reported recently that the Russian occupiers are stepping up filtration measures and repression against the population in Enerhodar, as they have failed to secure maximum loyalty and support from the people. A special unit of the Russian Guard was brought to the town for this purpose. The Russians, with the help of local collaborators, are compiling lists that include former military personnel, ATO veterans, members of the security services, activists and pro-Ukrainian residents.

Prior to this, Orlov said that the city's residents were on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe.
