In the morning of 17 October, explosions occurred in Kyiv, the mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko said.
He urged the residents to stay in shelters.
"Explosion in the Shevchenkivskyy district - in the centre of the capital. All services are heading to the scene. Details to follow. The air alert continues. Stay in shelters!" - Klitschko wrote.
Later, at 7:03, he added that a third explosion occurred in the Shevchenkivskyy district.
Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak added that Russians attacked Kyiv with kamikaze drones.
"Explosions in Kyiv. The capital was attacked by kamikaze drones. Russians think it will help them, but such actions look like agony. We need more air defence systems and as soon as possible. We do not have time for slow actions. More weapons to protect the sky and destroy the enemy. And so it will be," he wrote in Telegram.
The attack resulted in a fire in a non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyy district. Several residential buildings were damaged.
"Fire units are working. Medics are on the spot. Information about the victims is being clarified," Klitschko added.
Update. At 8:24 Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko repored two more explosions in Shevchenkivskyy district. Before that, he posted a photo of one of the drones' wreckage.
