There is no need to link the dismissal of Naftogaz CEO Yuriy Vitrenko to the country's gas supply, Energy Minister German Galushchenko has said at a press conference, an LB.ua correspondent reports.
"There was one manager, there will be another. This is a change of management. I believe that there is no need to link the situation in terms of gas supply to a particular person. This is a system, it works. This will not affect the supply of gas to either the population or industry," Galushchenko said.
He insists that there is enough gas in storage for the heating season.
On 1 November, the Cabinet of Ministers terminated the powers of Yuriy Vitrenko, who was the board chairman of the national oil and gas company Naftogaz of Ukraine [Naftohaz Ukrayiny].
Earlier, sources familiar with the situation told LB.ua that Minister of Development of Communities and Territories Oleksiy Chernyshov would chair Naftogaz after Vitrenko.
