The European Union is ready to allocate 25.5 million euros for the needs of the Ukrainian energy system, the European Union Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson stated at a briefing, according to the Suspilne.

The funds will be used for the urgent needs of supplying and providing electricity to our country.

At a briefing with Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko, Simson noted that Ukraine needs to be supported at a time when Russia is shelling its energy infrastructure.

"We now have 25.5 million euros ready to provide urgent needs and appropriate supplies, literally during this meeting. Throughout the escalation and Russia's attacks on the energy system, we need to support Ukraine. I have seen the destruction with my own eyes, so I will do everything possible to increase the financial, technical and also practical assistance that should come from the EU, our institutions, but also from our international partners and private donors," the Commissioner said.

Simson added that together with Halushchenko and the energy community, they are launching a campaign to engage the private sector in supplying the equipment Ukraine needs.

"I appeal to companies outside Europe that produce the relevant equipment. We need to ask these companies to prioritize their shipments," the European Commissioner added.
