In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko noted that there will be no full evacuation from Kyiv in case of a prolonged blackout, only temporary relocation of some residents to the suburbs is possible.
Klitschko noted that the city authorities should be prepared for different scenarios, including bad ones.
"In this case, each of us has an action plan, even for evacuation. I do not exclude the worst scenario. There will be no full evacuation - perhaps partial, but it cannot be actually called an evacuation. This is a temporary relocation of certain categories of people to the suburbs, where there may be services available," the mayor said.
The mayor also urged Kyiv residents to consider different scenarios and be prepared. According to the military, the Russians plan to continue to carry out insidious attacks on the infrastructure of Ukraine to intimidate Ukrainians with darkness and cold.
"Therefore, please have a supply of technical and drinking water at home, food that can be cooked or consumed without electricity, warm clothes, charged laptops and power banks, and download offline maps to your phones. And in the case of a bad scenario, it would be good if everyone had the opportunity to either go to their home in the suburbs, where there is water, and a furnace, or stay at their friends' place. But we are doing everything to ensure that the worst case does not happen," Klitschko added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that evacuation from Kyiv due to the blackout could be used as an emergency measure of last resort.
