Canada will donate 50 lighting towers to Ukraine, allowing power engineers to repair the grid at night. 15 of these eight-meter-high generator lighting towers have already arrived in Ukraine, said Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Yuliya Kovaliv.

"In total, our friends and partners from the Canada-Ukraine Foundation will deliver 50 such units by the New Year to enable our power engineers to work day and night," the Ambassador said.

In recent weeks, partners have been transferring generators and equipment for the power grid repair to Ukraine to help cope with the consequences of Russian missile strikes on energy facilities.

Among the latter, Estonia handed over 11 more buses with generators and power equipment to Ukrainian cities; France handed over 100 medium-power generators; the Netherlands announced the provision of transformers, switching components and cables.

Earlier, Canada announced that it would provide 15 million Canadian dollars ($11.04 million) for equipment needed by Ukraine for humanitarian demining. This will help fund the detection and clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
