As of 2 January, 474 people who were abducted in Kherson Region remain in Russian captivity, Suspilne has reported, quoting the press secretary of the Kherson regional prosecutor's office, Anastasiya Vesilovska.

"Currently, the investigation is aware of the release of 638 citizens, the occupiers continue to illegally detain 474 people. Law-enforcement officers are currently taking measures to establish the whereabouts of these people, pre-trial investigations are ongoing," she said.

She specified that among the abducted and missing residents of the region there are heads of cities, village heads, heads of village councils and their deputies, village heads, 21 deputies of regional and local councils. Russians also kidnapped 76 law-enforcement officers, four clergymen and others.
