Ukraine will continue decentralisation reform in 2023, in particular by introducing the institute of prefects, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday, 3 January, LB.ua reports.
"We are talking about the introduction of the institute of prefects - officials who will carry out administrative supervision on the ground. Prefects are non-political persons who will represent the state and monitor the constitutionality of local decisions," Shmyhal said.
He stressed that after the end of martial law, amendments to the constitution, which will finalise decentralisation reform, will be discussed accordingly.
