In Ukraine, more than 785 thousand internally displaced persons (IDPs) plan to stay in the communities that have received them and settle in a new place, according to the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, based on the General Population Survey.
"More than 785 thousand IDPs declare their plans to stay in the host communities and settle in a new place," the statement reads.
As of the end of 2022, there were 5.9 million internally displaced persons in Ukraine. At the same time, in December alone, about 680 thousand citizens left their homes, 40% of whom left the eastern regions of the country, and 25% - from the southern regions. Such data was published by the International Organization for Migration.
On the whole, despite frosts down to -10 degrees Celsius and shelling that disrupts electricity and heat supply systems, only 7% of Ukrainians are actively preparing to move to another place.
