This week, the Verkhovna Rada will appoint full-fledged heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). There will be no replacement for the Defence Minister so far, Davyd Arakhamiya, head of the Servant of the People faction, wrote on Telegram.
"We are waiting for the appointment of the heads of the Interior Ministry and the Security Service of Ukraine. There will be no personnel changes in the defence sector this week," he said.
Deputy Head of the Defence Committee Maryana Bezuhla wrote on Facebook: "As for the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry for Strategic Industries, it has been suspended for now, there will be no dismissals or appointments this week."
LB.ua's sources in the Servant of the People political council added that "the delay with the defence minister has to do with Ramstein." Another MP added: "The official internal reason is not to disrupt the stability of the Defence Ministry before Ramstein on 14 February".
Yesterday, Arakhamiya said that the current Defence Minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, was to be transferred to the Ministry for Strategic Industries and that the Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, would take over the Defence Ministry instead. Reznikov himself told reporters that he had not been talked to about such a "transfer" and that he would have refused to take the Minister for Strategic Industries' position.
The current Acting Head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, is to become its head. He was appointed acting head after Ivan Bakanov was fired.
The Interior Ministry will be headed by Ihor Klymenko, who was the head of the National Police and became the acting minister after the tragic death of Denys Monastyrskyy.
