A reference laboratory has confirmed the circulation of the Omicron XBB.1.5 variant of the coronavirus, also known as Kraken, in six regions of Ukraine, the Public Health Centre of the Ministry of Health has reported.
This coronavirus strain was detected in Lviv and Cherkasy regions. Thus, six regions already have a confirmed variant of the new strain: Sumy, where the first patient was registered, Transcarpathian, Ternopil, Odesa, Cherkasy, and Lviv regions.
The Centre for Public Health recalls that despite the fact that the Omicron strain is easier to tolerate, it has the ability to spread faster. To protect yourself and your loved ones, you need to get vaccinated and get booster shots.
