Russian soldiers are likely planning to remove some equipment from the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, the state-owned Energoatom company has said.
"At ZNPP, the Russian occupiers are calculating possible withdrawal scenarios and marking equipment that can be stolen from the plant," it said.
Quoting residents of Enerhodar, the company noted that the Russian military paid "special attention" to the Centre for Training of Maintenance and Management Personnel at the plant. The company explained that it was used to train foreign nuclear engineers to operate and repair equipment at nuclear power plants.
"Not only Energoatom (UAH 500 million), but also the European Union (almost EUR 13 million) invested significant funds in the creation of the Centre. Inspecting the Training Centre building, the ruscists who came to ZNPP as 'nuclear experts' made lists of equipment that 'should be dismantled' (read: stolen) from the nuclear power plant in the event of a retreat," Energoatom said.
