Today, the first four MiG-29 fighter jets were delivered from Slovakia to Ukraine, Slovak Defence Minister Yaroslav Nad said on Facebook.
"The first four MiG-29 fighter jets were safely handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and have already left the territory of the Slovak Republic," the statement said.
The transfer was carried out by Ukrainian pilots, and the Slovak Air Force provided security.
“The remaining aircraft will be handed over to Ukraine, however, for operational reasons we will not provide any further information in advance,” the minister added.
Nad emphasised that the Slovak government will continue to help Ukraine save lives, as it was Russia that invaded Ukraine.
On 17 March, the Slovak government approved the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine. The country will supply 13 Soviet-era aircraft to strengthen Ukraine's defence forces.
