US President Joe Biden has told reporters that he is concerned about Russia's plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine's neighbouring Belarus, CNN reports.
“They haven’t done that yet, unless something happened while I was on the helicopter. Sure, I’m concerned about that,” Biden said.
“What’ve I been talking to you guys about for the last year? This is dangerous kind of talk, and it’s worrisome,” the president added.
On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced plans to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. Moscow is also to complete the construction of a special nuclear weapons storage facility in the country by early July.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Minsk would face additional sanctions if they made such a decision.
