The NASAMS air defence systems, which were transferred to Ukraine by Western partners, have shot down more than 100 Russian missiles and drones in five months of operation, the Ukrainian Air Force has said.
The first NASAMS began to be used to protect Ukraine's airspace in November 2022.
According to Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk, the brigade, which is equipped with NASAMS, will eventually abandon the old equipment and switch exclusively to Western air defence systems.
"In the long term, I see that we will abandon the use of the old air defence systems in this brigade. I think that in the near future the air defence brigade will be armed with all the latest systems that will be available in Ukraine," he said.
As reported earlier, the Avenger air defence system is already protecting Ukraine's airspace in the north.
