Ukrainian Railway (Ukrzaliznytsya) has resumed the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through Poland, which had been suspended since 15 April.

Such shipments are allowed for land transit and for transit to the seaports of Gdansk, Gdynia, Swinoujscie and Szczecin, Interfax-Ukraine has reported.

The company received a notification of the cancellation of relevant restrictions from the Polish carrier PKP Cargo on 21 April. It is noted that this was preceded by an order on transit cargo from Ukraine issued by Polish Minister of Economic Development and Technology Waldemar Buda.

The mirror restrictive conventions on the transit of certain cargoes to Poland, introduced by Ukrainian Railway on 17 April, will also be cancelled soon. The issue of 3,000 wagons with Ukrainian agricultural products that had been loaded and accepted for transportation before the conventional ban was introduced by Polish carriers remains unresolved.

The ministers of agriculture of Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary wrote a letter to the European Commission with a proposal to expand the list of products from Ukraine that are banned from import.

Poland's decision to unilaterally stop importing grain from Ukraine has a political overtone, according to Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyy.
