The Russians are stockpiling missiles to disrupt the offensive of Ukrainian troops, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate chief, Kyrylo Budanov, has said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"For the most part, they will hit the groups of troops that will be formed," he said.
Budanov also commented on whether the Russians are preparing to resume massive attacks on Ukrainian critical infrastructure with the onset of autumn.
"By autumn, if they don't spend a single missile, they will have a certain number of them - less than the number with which they launched these missile attacks, but quite significant. But this will not happen because they plan to use these missiles now," Budanov said.
It should be noted that Russia last carried out the major shelling of Ukraine in March 2023. Since then, they have been attacking mainly frontline settlements, the border, or using drones for attacks.
As reported earlier, according to Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Russia will not be able to restore even a third of the missile potential it had at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by autumn.
Natalya Humenyuk, head of the Joint Coordination Press Centre of the Southern Defence Forces, said that the stock of enemy missiles is close to critical, but that new attacks are not ruled out.
