Ukraine has already secured the release of 2,238 people from Russian captivity, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas in Zhytomyr.

According to Zelenskyy, 140 civilians are among those released. Zelenskyy also mentioned the torture of Ukrainians by the Russian occupiers.

"People are being tortured, first of all, we understand, the heroes of our state, those who defended it," the president added.

He noted that the state was constantly working on the issue of returning Ukrainians from captivity.

Ukraine has recently returned 130 more prisoners, including servicemen, border guards, National Guard members and sailors.

Defence intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said that Ukraine was approaching the exchange of prisoners with Russia in the "all for all" format.
