In April, Ukraine will host an international event with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, a high EU source told PAP.
"The event will take place in April. Details are not disclosed yet for security reasons. One of the main topics of the talks will be the issue of illegal deportations of Ukrainian children to Russia," an EU source told PAP.
The European Commission announced in February that it was launching an initiative with Poland on Ukrainian children abducted to Russia. The goal is to find them and hold those responsible for the abductions to account.
"The EC is launching together with Poland, under the leadership of the head of the EC Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, an initiative concerning Ukrainian children. We are aware of the dramatic situation of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and sent to Russia for adoption. It is estimated that from the beginning of the invasion, Russian forces sent thousands of Ukrainian children to Russia," EC spokeswoman Dana Spinant said in February at a conference in Brussels.
