President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered his traditional evening video address to Ukrainians on the evening of 9 April.

"Last night, the Russian army fired on Zaporizhzhya. With S-300 missiles. It hit a house, a residential building. Three people were inside. A man, a woman and a child - a girl, her name was Iryna, she would have turned 11 this year. She died. The man died too. My condolences... The woman is in a serious condition now, in hospital, she is being treated. This is how the terrorist state is spending this Palm Sunday. This is how Russia puts itself in even greater isolation from the world, from humanity," he said.

Zelenskyy noted that every Christian holiday teaches us that evil is a loser.

"We have to believe. And we do believe. We must bring the defeat of evil closer. And we are bringing it closer. And the world is with us. Every month, every week, support is added, the circle of those who support us, who support our courage and our faith in life is growing," he said.

"Glory to all Ukrainian heroes! To each and every one of them who is now in combat! To each and every one who is now on combat posts and missions! Eternal and blessed memory to all those who gave their lives defending the life of Ukraine and Ukrainians! May next year's Palm Sunday be held in peace and freedom for all our people! May the sincere prayers for peace of all who celebrate Easter today be answered! Glory to Ukraine!" Zelenskyy added.
