Ukraine has handed over five seriously wounded occupiers, who were held prisoner, to Russia, the Coordination HQ for the Treatment of Prisoners of War has said.
Among them is the only woman who was held in Ukrainian captivity.
"We managed to stabilise the condition of these people to make them fit for transport. The repatriation, as stipulated by international humanitarian law, took place without any conditions for the Russian side," the HQ added.
In addition, during Ramadan, Ukraine handed over to Russia two Muslim prisoners of war who fought in the occupying army. "This was done in support of our proposal to the aggressor state to exchange Muslims 'all for all' on both sides as a sign of respect for culture and traditions," the Coordination HQ stressed.
In March, Ukraine carried out a humanitarian step and handed over all the seriously wounded occupiers to Russia.
Later, Darya Zarivna, communications advisor to the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, said that Russia had refused to allow Ukraine to exchange prisoners of war who profess Islam on an "all for all" basis.
